TG Eakin Ltd was pleased to sponsor the local ‘Ards Women of Achievement’ Awards once again this year. Held on International Women’s Day (8th March 2012), the Awards recognise the successes, progress and attainments of local women.

TG Eakin Ltd was sponsoring the ‘Woman in the Community’ category and this award went to a long-serving member and the current Secretary of Cloughey and District Community Association, Margaret Adair. She is credited with almost single handedly securing the funding required to stage events from sandcastle competitions to annual Halloween and Christmas celebrations and is also an active campaigner, championing everything from a drive to reduce speed limits at local schools to lobbying to have more bins at the local beach.

Commenting on the awards, member of the judging panel, Councillor Deborah Girvan, said: “I was completely bowled over by the quality and high standard of the applicants who were entered for the Women of Achievement Awards and consider it an honour to have been in the company of some truly inspiring local women. Too often our unsung heroines never get the recognition they deserve for quietly working away in the background and making such a difference to the lives of others. My congratulations go to all our winners and thanks go to our sponsors – the Eakin Group, Mash Direct, Pritchitts and Warden Bros – for their support of the awards scheme once again”.

On 26th January TG Eakin Ltd were awarded the Ulster International Business Award at a special ceremony to celebrate the 2011 Ulster Bank Business Achievers Awards.

On 26th January TG Eakin Ltd were awarded the Ulster International Business Award at a special ceremony to celebrate the 2011 Ulster Bank Business Achievers Awards.

The Awards recognise the outstanding contribution made by companies and entrepreneurs to the Irish economy across all industry sectors. With almost 400 companies entering the Awards, North and South, we were honoured to win the International Business category.

The Awards were judged on a variety of merits including financial performance, company milestones and achievements, future strategy for the business and development of innovative products and services. The judges were most impressed with how Eakin performed across all areas and in particular the success of our export strategy.

We will now go forward to represent Ulster in the All- Ireland awards process, taking place later this year.

Congratulations are extended to Tom Eakin who has been awarded ‘Family Business Director of the Year’ as well as runner-up in the ‘Overall Director of the Year’ at the UK IOD Director of the Year Awards 2011 held recently.

Open to directors from across the business spectrum, the IoD Director of the Year Awards UK selects regional winners from across the UK to then compete for the overall title. So having won the Northern Ireland award for ‘Family Business Director of the Year’ back in December 2010, Tom was then shortlisted for the UK award.

And on Friday 23rd September he joined the UK finalists at the Lancaster Hotel in London for an afternoon of celebration with award host Michael Portillo, where Tom Eakin was crowned the overall winner in the Family Business category, despite tough competition.

Given the current economic conditions, the judges were looking for individuals who have continued to prosper. They were most impressed with how Tom has developed the Eakin Group of Companies from a manufacturing start-up in 1974 to a 4 company organisation employing more than 200 people.

Commenting on the Awards, the Northern Ireland Minister for Employment & Learning, Danny Kennedy, said “Excellent leadership, provided by well qualified managers, is central to our vision for skills and today’s winners demonstrate the outstanding talent which exists among Northern Ireland’s business leaders. By nurturing these skills, businesses – and indeed Northern Ireland – will reap the rewards of competitive advantage and long-term economic success.”

TG Eakin Ltd has requalified as one of Ireland’s ‘Best Managed’ companies in the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme.

TG Eakin Ltd has requalified as one of Ireland’s ‘Best Managed’ companies in the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme. Having first received the honour in 2010, we have continued to demonstrate superior business performance for a second year running.

The Awards Programme, in association with Irish Life Corporate Business, recognises indigenous Irish companies across Ireland which are operating at the highest levels of business performance. Within the requalification review process, the judging panel looked at how the company continues to uphold the standard of a Deloitte Best Managed Company. They considered business performance from every perspective including strategy, capability, commitment, financial performance and growth potential across all key functions of the business.

Commenting on the award, Jeremy Eakin, Managing Director of TG Eakin Ltd said: “We are delighted to receive requalification as one of Ireland’s Best Managed Companies. In what has been a challenging year economically, we have continued to grow and prosper. This is a testament to the hard-working staff and dedicated management team that we have in place at TG Eakin”.

The Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme is open to companies from all 32 counties on the island of Ireland, across all business sectors. Speaking about the winners, Pat Cullen, Managing Partner of Deloitte and judging panel member remarked: “Despite the negative sentiment that currently prevails, the Best Managed Companies Awards Programme shows that Irish indigenous companies are a cornerstone of growth in the Irish economy and can and will play an important role in Ireland’s overall recovery. In November TG Eakin Ltd were delighted to receive the Gold Prize in the ‘Continence and Stoma Care’ category of the Nursing Times Product Awards for the highly innovative Cohesive^® Paste.

On November 3rd 2010 at a prestigious ceremony in London, TG Eakin Ltd were delighted to receive the Gold Prize in the ‘Continence and Stoma Care’ category of the Nursing Times Product Awards for the highly innovative Cohesive^® Paste.

The awards were set up to recognise and reward the products that are transforming patient care and helping healthcare professionals work efficiently. Innovation and practicality are both fundamental attributes for the devices and products that nurses use on a daily basis. High quality products enable nurses to work more effectively in a clinical environment and are essential for improving patient safety and assisting in daily care, observation and treatment.

The finalists were judged by a prestigious panel of clinical and industry experts to determine the winners in each category. The judges felt that eakin Cohesive^® Paste successfully delivered in all of these areas, as it is indeed a stoma paste with a difference. On 19th July Mr Tom Eakin and Mrs Esther McIlveen, TG Eakin Ltd’s longest serving member of staff, travelled to London to attend the Queen’s Awards ceremony.

At the prestigious event, held in Buckingham Palace, they were honoured to meet her Majesty the Queen and had the opportunity to chat with her briefly.

Speaking after the event, Mr Tom Eakin commented, „I was honoured to receive the Queen’s Award for Enterprise on behalf of everyone at TG Eakin Ltd. The fact that we are also celebrating 30 years of the Cohesive^® Seal this year makes the award even more special“.

For the first time TG Eakin Limited has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category.

We are extremely proud to have gained the most prestigious award for business success and will hold this award for the next 5 years.

The Queen’s Awards were inaugurated in 1966 and have since been honouring the highest achieving UK companies. TG Eakin Limited is one of only three companies in Northern Ireland to have been awarded this distinction in 2010.

Jeremy Eakin, Managing Director, commented on the latest achievement for the company. “We are delighted to received the Queen’s Award for International Trade – it is a great tribute to our company and the dedication of our work force and confirms our continuing success despite a challenging economic environment. Our turnover increased by over 30% last year and we anticipate further growth of 15% in the coming year. We are also planning the construction of a factory extension which will double the size of our premises, securing the future of more than 50 jobs and creating further employment.”

Later this summer, a presentation will be made to the company by the Queen’s representative, the Lord Lieutenant of the county.

Receiving the ‘Best Small/Medium Company’ accolade in the Belfast Telegraph NI Business Awards, was a testament to business growth, profitability and overall success in the past few years.

Last year alone, turnover grew by 20% and is on target to grow by an additional 30% this year. Ann McGregor, Chief Executive of Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce and member of the judging panel, remarked, “Companies in the SME Category are superb role models of the type of entrepreneurial, innovative and export driven business that Northern Ireland needs for faster economic growth. I am confident that these companies will go on to become industry leaders and thereby encourage others to follow the trails they are blazing”.

TG Eakin Ltd was also commended in two further categories in the Belfast Telegraph Business Awards. ‘Business Team of the Year ‘ recognised the people orientated approach to management and the excellent level of service delivered by the company. The commendation in ‘Exporting Achievement’ reflected on the company’s success since they began exporting in 1992. In the past 2 years exports have extended to seven new countries and in 2009 TG Eakin Ltd introduced its first “franchise” companies in Holland and Germany.

Both judging panels were hugely impressed by the success of TG Eakin Ltd as a whole. Among the key factors contributing to this success is the strong relationships built with their distributors, regular business planning, high employee morale, an innovative approach to manufacturing and an excellent service quality.

TG Eakin Ltd has been named as one of Ireland’s ‘Best Managed’ companies in the prestigious Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards.

As one of only twenty companies who were chosen, our efforts were recognised at an awards gala dinner in the Burlington Hotel in Dublin, which was attended by the Irish Taoiseach, Mr Brian Cowen T.D., on Friday 5th March 2010.

Now in it’s second year, the Awards Programme is open to companies from all 32 counties on the island of Ireland and is the only awards body that considers a business’ performance from every perspective.

The independent judging panel reviewed a broad range of criteria including strategy, capability, commitment, financial performance and growth potential across all key functions of the business. Given the turbulent economic environment, the judges recognised that business and management success can no longer simply be measured by increased sales, profit or turnover. For that reason, a holistic view of the company, performance in relation to competitors, and the industries specific factors were considered in order to determine management success.
